Why are you called WhiStle Radio?
WhiStle is a short-form for Whitchurch-Stouffville.
What is your format?
The station’s programming will be eclectic. Sometimes we’ll have speciality shows – shows that are pitched, developed, produced and hosted by volunteers in the community. The shows will cover a wide spectrum, representing a diversity of views, interests, talents, and ages (you get the idea).
During times when a speciality show is not on, we play a music mix that will become a kind of trademark for the station, and will have a large Canadian Content. WhiStle Radio does not have a “format” in the usual sense, our format is “community”.
What is the CRTC?
The CRTC is the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. It is an agency of the federal government and is responsible for regulating radio stations, among other things.
Can I pitch a show?
Of course you can! Be sure to read our guidelines. Pitches are reviewed by the Programming Committee.
You do not need specific radio experience, you just need to be committed. Developing a show is hard work, and extremely fun.
Can I volunteer?
Yes! WhiStle Radio has an ongoing need for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, contact us
