On the runway …
I’ve been using metaphor “off the ground and on the air”. Well, to continue with that I think we’ve pulled on to the runway. Ostensibly things have been quiet. Not much on the blog, or the web page. No events have happened for a while.
But behind the scenes things have really been happening. One of our board members, Halvor Moorshead, has been tirelessly working on a number of initiatives. He heads up our programming committee and has been working on a volunteer training manual, for example.
Spirit webcasts are back this year, as they have been for the past two seasons. But this year we’ve ironed out some technical glitches that have dogged us, and we’re at broadcast quality, ready to go on air any time.
I have been running a 24/7 test webcast for over a month now. We haven’t been public about this, because it is after all only a test, but if you’re really curious I can let you know how you can easedrop.
So, you may ask, when will the WhiStle get on the air? Well to find that out you’ll have to come to our Breaking News Breakfast. This is another initiative we’ve been organizing. Those in attendance will get the latest news, find out our launch date, and just generally get a good dose of our enthusiasm. We’ve even got the Mayor coming to put in a good word for us! Details about the breakfast can be found at whistleradio.com. It takes place Nov 2.
Stay tuned, because good things are happening. And it is very exciting!
